Review: Little did I know that when I caught the Megadeth gig in Dublin that I would be in for a bigger musical treat than i thought. I didn’t know who was supporting them before the gig, not that I was expecting much since my experience of support bands at any gigs that i have been to have ranged from crappy to boringly average. I was therefore somewhat shocked to see a distinctive “DH” motif on the drums on stage. My heart leapt and so did the pitch of my voice as I pointed at the stage and screeched “Its fucking Diamond Head” to the surrounding fans now slowly backing away from me, a phrase I was to repeat right up until the men in white coats dragged me kicking and screaming from the venue after the gig. Seriously though, to make a rather large understatement, I was pleasantly surprised to see you guys there and, don’t tell Mr. Mustaine, for me it was the highlight of the night. Quite an achievement given it was a pretty fucking great night. I must be badly out of the loop because I didn’t even know you guys were back let alone had a new album out (which I shall be purchasing forthwith). I got to say I thought Nick did a great job on vocals with the band that night. Here’s to hoping that the newest incarnation of Diamond Head is a long lasting and successful one. If anyone is overdue and deserving of some measure of success and recognition its you guys.
