Celebrating their 30th anniversary with a live album, It’s Electric, the quintet led by stalwart guitarist Brian Tatler and singer Nick Tart blasted onto the stage at 9:05 and proceeded to run pretty much through their latest release, working the few score in attendance who weren’t watching the World Cup into a terrace frenzy. The burly melodic title track was succeeded by the energetic Give It To Me and thunderous The Prince, as DH plundered their rich catalogue and demonstrated why Metallica were so inspired by them. Mine All Mine was one of the new studio cuts that continued the tradition, and the doomy riffing of Lightning To The Nations led to a singalong To The Devil His Due and the insistent Alimony. Hardly the most cerebral of lyrics, but who cares? Other standouts included Sucking My Love, with Brian fretting away for all his worth, the thwacking Streets Of Gold and a pogoing mosh on Helpless. Am I Evil? remains a standard and the encore Heat Of the Night said it all as the band and their followers sang as one.
