Royal Court, Nottingham, October 6th, 1983



The venue was Nottingham Royal Court and the band had just released the ambitious Canterbury album. This gig seems a long time ago this yet, sometimes, it just seems like yesterday...
I recall I was still in the bar when the band came onstage to the unforgettable riff of Am I Evil. I was seated in the second row where I took these shots.
The gig was great with material old and new, including a terrific version of Sucking My Love. The support band was Budgie, whom I've seen many times and, I have to say had the edge over Diamond Head on the night. I seem to recall that Budgie left the tour a couple of nights later!
However Sean, Brian and the crew were memorable. It was such a shame for a band with promise and vision to break up so soon after.
Anyway, enjoy the photos. Usual story I'm afraid (bad camera and pissed-up!), but I hope that they will rekindle fond memories for those that had the privilage of seeing them.
