Thin Lizzy Tour Blog: Aberdeen

Morning Campers,

it's Saturday morning and todays show is Aberdeen..

After rising, showering and pruning ourselves like peacocks we headed
out to find some breakfast. The restaurant we ate at on the Megadeth tour which was close to the hotel was closed so we had a walk up the main drag and found a little breakfast cafe that offered a full breakfast that was well within the budget for the band.. after discussing the show last night we changed the set again and agreed that Wild was not working.. Although I thought to myself it helps if you hit the f&*^ing cymbal on the intro...
After breakfast we made use of the hotels facilities before filling Lollipop up with gas (diesel) and headed North East to Aberdeen.
We were leaving early for Aberdeen so we could have a wonder around the city. Brian had been there before however I don't think anybody else had.. I had been there before but not to play a show.
It's one of the draw backs of being on the road you actually don't get to see any of the cities you play which is a shame and we were hoping to rectify this today.
After arriving sometime between 2 and 3 in the afternoon we were just in time for lunch; although catering was starting to clean up. There was enough time for any of the guys to head out in to town. Thankfully the venue was in the middle of the town and was easily located within the reach of the town.

After lunch Brian myself and Abbz started to work on the merchandise and make it easier for Jason to find and sell. He was gradually starting to see how difficult it was for us to sell anything and was becoming a good chap to have along, although he would get stroppy from time to time as his boss laid more and more pressure on him..
I cleaned my Yamaha 9000 series kit and did some brush work to loosen up.. Tommy Aldridge arrived and past comment on how good the kit looked and how well it sounded..this was one of the few times he spoke to me...I tried many times but to no avail until the Liverpool show which was odd, that show had other things going on. more on this later.
The guys who went walk about arrived back at the venue and we made our way to the dressing room. The dressing room was the size of some of the stages we had previous played on earlier in the year..
During down time between lunch and dinner one of the crew tried to embarrass me regarding the brace I wear on my right arm. There was a lady from the venue who asked what I had done, to which one of the crew replied that it was from too much w@&$ing. After a slight pause I agreed saying that it is difficult when you have use two hands..The lady said boldly "that will teach you" and the rest of the crew burst out laughing at His blushes.
After the show we headed for the merchandise stand to meet and greet.. Another good show, no vomiting and a great standing crowd again...
There really is something special about the Scottish crowds they really have a great time and are one crazy bunch of Muthaf@#$%^.
After load out we headed to the hotel..
Once again two rooms. Brian, Nick and Abbz in one room. Andrew, Eddie and myself in the other..After a few beers and some shots it was off to sleep.

We have a long drive to Newcastle tomorrow.

Peace

Karl
